Mokokchung, September 25 (MTNews): As part of the ongoing “Seva Pakhwada” (a fortnight of service) and in commemoration of the 106th birth anniversary of Late Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya (1916-1968), the Minority Morcha, BJP Mokokchung held a program in honour of the late founding father of BJP at the BJP office on September 25.

Speaking at the program, the President of Minority Morcha, BJP Mokokchung, Rongsenyanger Aier paid tribute to the late Indian freedom fighter and BJP leader, who during the worst of the times fought against the British and laid the foundation for the Bharatiya Janata Party in India, an update from the party said. He said that the BJP has reached its present status because of the vision and sacrifices of people like the Late Pandit and others. “Therefore, it is most appropriate for the nation to honour the late leader,” said Rongsenyanger.

 

The BJP, Mokokchung District President, Imolemba Jamir, who also attended the program, appreciated the Minority Morcha for being a strong pillar of the BJP organisational set-up in the district. He appreciated the minority community, who are mostly from mainland India, for their sense of belongingness towards Mokokchung. He said that though they might be a minority here, when the Nagas go to their states, we become a minority. In this regard, he said that the sense of fraternity as Indians should be maintained and the sense of fraternity should be fostered at all levels.

 

While asking the minority communities to approach the BJP in times of need, the BJP district president also encouraged them to partake in the popular Ao festivals – Christmas, Moatsu and Tsungremmung; at the same time, he also encouraged the minority community to invite the local populace to their festivals so that “we can all share the spirit of oneness in times of difficulty and also in joy.”
Meanwhile, the BJP Mokokchung district led the minority morcha in lighting candles in reverence of the Late Indian leader. A minute of silence was also observed as a tribute to the late Pandit Upadhyaya, the update from the party said.
