Mokokchung, October 26 (MTNews): The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mokokchung, Ongpangkong South Block, in collaboration with the District Sericulture Office, Mokokchung, held a training program on Eri-silkworm rearing and Grainage technology, followed by a demonstration at Satsu Village on October 25.

 

Immonger, ASO, Mokokchung, and Lanu, SFA, Mokokchung served as resource people for the technical session.

 

During the training program, the resource persons stressed on the importance of Eri-silkworm rearing, which can lead to economic upliftment for farmers. With the help of a PowerPoint presentation, various techniques for rearing Eri-silkworms such as rearing house, disinfectant (use of formalin) season, incubation, brushing, late stage rearing, feeding, disease management, and Eri seed Grainage technology were shared in detail.

 

A demonstration was also held in which resource person Immonger demonstrated Kesseru cultivation practices and how tapioca acts as an alternate host plant for Eri-silkworm rearing.

 

During the feedback and discussion session, farmers expressed their concerns about the problems they are experiencing as a result of low quality seeds, disease seeds, and a lack of proper structure. They requested that the concerned department assist them with the necessities during seed procurement and ensure that they receive high-quality seed. The program drew 25 farmers in total.
