Mokokchung, October 26 (MTNews): The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Tuli Block, Mokokchung conducted various activities such as training on winter vegetable cultivation practices, demonstration on nursery bed management, varietal performance of mustard variety RGN-298, distribution of rabi crop seeds for nutritional garden, and mobilization of Farmers Interest Group (FIG) at various locations covering Merangkong village, Tuli town, and Tzudikong on October 24 and 25 with resource persons Imlisunep Ajem, BTM; Imlipokim Pongener, ATM; and Lanusanen, ATM, ATMA, Tuli Block.

 

During the training, Imlipokim covered a package of rabi crop practices. He emphasized the significance of nursery bed preparation, nutrient management, and how to control and manage pests and diseases, as well as the importance of instilling integrated pest management.

 

Lanusanen, ATM then demonstrated how to make a nursery bed by hand. The ATMA staff reported that two FIGs were mobilized, with Imlisunep, BTM highlighting the role and function of FIG, followed by a demonstration of mustard var. RGN-298 varietal performance.

 

In addition, rabi vegetable seeds were distributed to Zuren Lumang FSG for a nutritional garden.

 

The staff discussed with the farmers the importance of intercropping, early pest control, and the use of high yielding, high quality seeds. During the activities, 50 farmers participated.
