Mokokchung, November 15 (MTNews): The medal tally of Nagaland state at the ongoing 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022 in Shillong now stands at 67 as on November 15 tabulated at 9:20 PM.

 

 

 

On Tuesday, the top highlights from the Nagaland contingent included Nagaland Men’s Basketball Team getting awarded the silver medal despite losing in the semifinal after the finalist team Assam got disqualified due to misconduct in their final match against Mizoram.

 

Neiketoulie Belho got his second gold in the 100 meter race track, recording 11:00 seconds. His colleague Nekhoto Tunyi finished in third place with 11.09 seconds.

 

Nagaland badminton team also secured four medals (one silver and three bronze). In the Women’s Doubles, Ekumyala and Debahuti Lahon won the silver medal and in Women’s Singles, Debahuti Lahon added a bronze medal for Nagaland team while H. Leihong Konyak secured Bronze medal in Men’s Singles and in Mixed Doubles, Zhakuo Seyie and Tovali Shohe bagged bronze medal for Nagaland badminton team.

 

In the 4X100 relay, runners Rongsenmeren, Nekhoto Tunyi , Vivor Kesieze and Neiketoulie Belho completed the track in 43:53 seconds to win the gold medal.

 

Tsuchoi T Shui in the 5000 m race won gold while in the 10,000 meter race secured silver. Dawhuo Venuzo won his second gold medal in the Judo competition for 75kg and above category while also securing Gold in the Shot-put competition. Nagaland wrestling team also won four medals (3 silver and one bronze) with Chusen winning silver in the 57kg category while Kusai bagged bronze in the 65 kg category, Keneselie won silver in the 70 kg category and Mhaneikholie won silver in the 74 kg category.

 

The Northeast’s fastest runner Neiketoulie Belho, who won gold medals in 100m race, 4×100 relay race and long jump, was awarded the Best Athlete award for Above-20 men.

 

Nagaland’s Niansai T was also awarded the Best Athlete among Under-20 women for winning the 800m and 1500m. Nagaland collected a total of 9 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze medals in the athletic events.

 

Nagaland Olympic Association through a press release on Tuesday informed that Bongtang Phom from Longleng district who won a Gold medal in Wrestling in the 57 Kg category will be the flag bearer of the Nagaland Contingent at the Closing Ceremony of the 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022.
