Mokokchung, December 1 (MTNews): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has extended its greetings to the people of Nagaland on the occasion of 60th Statehood Day. The NPCC in a press release through its Communications Department said that the name ‘Nagaland’ was given by AZ Phizo. “It found its place in the Constitution of India on 1st August 1960 when Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru made a statement in the Parliament to create Statehood named ‘Nagaland’. We remember our State founding Father, for we owe them all what we have today,” NPCC said.

However, NPCC regretted that the 16th state of the Indian Union has “remained at the bottom in development.” NPCC said that Statehood continues to face resistance and was not allowed to fully utilize its authority and resources to develop Nagaland State. “And today, we remain without Medical Colleges, Engineering Colleges, Industries, and our infrastructures are at the lowest among the States,” it rued.

NPCC further said that corruption has “reached its ultimate” and that there is no project that ends without “cuts of multi-commissions.” It alleged that Village Councils and VDBs are forced to sign “blank cheques by RD” to draw whatever amount they want from the accounts of the villages. “Even pensioners have to pay commission to receive their due. Nepotism, bias, and ill-will are found in almost all the Government appointments and orders. They don’t fear the wrath of God anymore,” the NPCC said. “What we have gained in 25 years of negotiation is corruption,” it also added.

“In the 60th year, now we are afraid Nagaland may disintegrate. Nagaland may finally land in the same situation as Jammu & Kashmir,” it said. NPCC alleged that the 60 MLAs have no concern for the integrity of the State they represent and that “it is their failure to keep our people united because of discrepancy, injustice and inequality in treatment.” NPCC also said that the legislators have pledged to uphold the integrity of the Nation and that they also should uphold the integrity of the State. “God forbid but they will be responsible for disintegration,” NPCC cautioned.

On the occasion of the 60th Statehood Day of Nagaland, NPCC made three appeals. It appealed to the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) to rethink their demand for Frontier Nagaland State. “Congress assures Justice and Equality. We also assure special attention, given an opportunity,” it added.

NPCC also appealed “in all sincerity” to Naga National Workers to conclude the negotiations in order to develop the state and create jobs. Thirdly, it appealed to the people to vote for the “change you want to see and feel.”

  2. Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
