Mokokchung, December 16 (MTNews): After joining the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on Thursday, the NSCN/GPRN (Akato) said today that, as desired by the people, the group is for ‘solution’ and not ‘election’ and that they will have nothing to do with the election.
NSCN/GPRN (Akato) through its MIP said in a press release that it reiterates and reaffirm its stance made on 15 December 2022 once again by “reflecting on the declaration made on 19 November 2021, that we are in the ambit of Ceasefire mechanism for the simple reason that the NSCN/GPRN was formed out of necessity and not in any haphazard manner that arose due to the unfortunate split in NSCN R, who were in the ceasefire agreement with GoI.” It also added that the group will be “in solidarity and in concordance with the NNPGs in order to push for Naga solution which was at its zenith.”
The NSCN/GPRN (Akato) also said that it would like to “reflect on the narratives of the UNC (United Naga Council) that appeared in 30 May 2022 press release in all esteemed dailies.”
Quoting the UNC as saying, “What is the hurry now when we have already taken so many years?” the group said it is quite an understatement that needs to be pondered upon.
“The NSCN whole heartedly acknowledges that each and every individual with Naga blood running in their veins, whether they are from Arunachal, Assam, Manipur or Myanmar has suffered the brunt of the Naga National Movement (NNM),” it said. However, it added that the present state of Nagaland was the epicenter of NNM. “Hence the citizens in this area have suffered much more, physically, mentally and socially and the people want nothing else than a peaceful solution to this protracted and long, pending Indo/Naga conflict,” it added.
As such, it said the narrative as to ‘why should we hurry’ coming from UNC sends a deep shockwave and added that it considers it as a “disrespectful and remorseless attitude towards the people of Nagaland, when it is crystal clear that the NNM is one of the oldest, if not the oldest conflict in South-East Asia.”
Further, while saying that joining hands with the NNPGs the NSCN is very much optimistic and anticipates for the very best, it stated that “in the event of any issues that may arise out of such decisive matter, this clarion call is sounded to all ranks and files from both Army and Civil setup to be prepared and ready at all times to face any eventualities, whatsoever.”
