Kohima, December 17 (MTNews): The ongoing project of New Medical College Pheibazo Kohima was inspected by Kekheto Sema, IAS Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare along with officers from Directorate of Health & Family Welfare led by Principal Director Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, Director cum Dean of Medical College Kohima and officials from Director and above. The inspection cum review and consultative meeting was held on 17 December.

 

 

During the review cum consultative meeting which was held at Administrative Block Medical College, Kekheto Sema IAS , the newly appointed Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare welcomed all dignitaries and attendees. In his speech, he emphasized that the major priority is to complete the Medical College and make it functional at the earliest, for which he suggested that some senior officer from the Directorate should be assigned exclusively for Medical College so that he/she can update the ongoing progress to higher ups respectively.

 

He also suggested that the status should be updated at least once a week. He also opined that a list of all names and contractors who are in-charge of different buildings should be maintained for smooth communication along with a list of priorities. Additionally, he suggested forming a committee for each building consisting of two officers for each building. It was also suggested that holidays should not be an excuse to slow down the project since it is already two years behind schedule as per the 15th Finance Commission of the State.

 

Apart from the strategies to speed up the works, he mentioned that it is important to be in contact with allied departments like Forest Department & Agri Department for the expert opinion on ecosystem and take suggestions for suitable plantation to alleviate greener Nagaland.

 

Principal Director, Dr. K Vikato Kinimi in his speech acknowledged with gratitude to Kekheto Sema IAS for showing great interest and enthusiasm towards the Medical College for the welfare of Naga citizens. He also welcomed all officers and dignitaries present in the meeting. Additionally, he requested the engineers to give more priorities in the project to speed up the work and mentioned that it is the wish of the department to make the Medical College functional as early as possible.

 

Dr. Soumya Chakraborty, Medical Director cum Dean of Nagaland Medical College also highlighted the working process of the ongoing project during the meeting.
