Mokokchung, December 17 (MTNews): On Friday night at around 8:00 PM, a deer strayed into the quarter guard complex of DEF Mokokchung New Reserve which was sighted by the quarter guard duty personnel.
According to official accounts, “the duty personnel immediately surrounded the deer and caught it alive and preserved it safely” until it was handed over to the Forest Department soon after.
Accordingly, “the incident was immediately communicated to the senior officers and through the official correspondence by the senior officials the handing and taking over of the live deer followed.”
It was reported that the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Manoj Kumar (IPS) and team handed over the live deer to the Divisional Forest Office Mokokchung on Friday night at around 9:00 PM from the DEF Mokokchung New Reserve quarter guard complex.
The Forest Department thanked the DEF personnel for their timely action. “We also want to appeal to the public to come forward in conserving nature and wildlife,” a Forest Department personnel conveyed.
Meanwhile, the Forest Department personnel relocated the deer to Süngkotenem Park of Mopungchuket village where it was safely released.
