Volunteers of the ‘90s PICTSM’ group undertook a cleanliness drive at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Tuesday. The Cleanliness drive was carried out to commemorate the upcoming Republic Day.
The 90’s PICTSM, a group of 7 college friends from Mokokchung, stated that “Clean environment is an indicator of progress of human beings.”
“People throw their waste items in open fields of the complex resulting in pollution-related problems,” the group said. The group encouraged the youngsters to take part in cleaning drives in order to maintain a neat and clean environment “not just for the locals but for the tourists as well,” the group said.
“From now on, this very day will become symbolic of Cleanliness Drive in Mokokchung Town,” the group declared.
The group is said to be active in doing cleanups in the town and have been firm believers in the anti-plastic campaign. They have also recently introduced a biodegradable carry bag in the market.
