Mokokchung, 10 May (MTNews): Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) will be organizing the Tribal Artisans Mela (TAM) on 12 and 13 May at Town Hall, Mokokchung from 10:00 AM onward as part of the implementation plan of a new scheme – Marketing and Logistics Development for Promoting Tribal Products from the North Eastern Region (PTP NER)’.
TRIFED is a national level Cooperative Society under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Gol mandated with marketing and development of tribal products with the ultimate objective of socio-economic development of tribal communities in India.
“The Mela is a platform which will provide avenues to the local artisans to showcase their products and wherein some artisans (cooperative societies/SHGs/individuals) will be selected for empanelment with the Ministry,” a circular from the SDO(C) & Nodal Officer, TAM Mokokchung informed.
It was further informed that the range of products that can be displayed at the TAM includes Metal Craft, Cane & Bamboo, Textiles, Terracotta & Stone Pottery, Jewelry, Painting, Gift & Novelties, and organic and natural produces.
All interested artisans (cooperative societies/SHGs/individuals) have been invited to participate in the Mela. “They may give their confirmation to the contact points 9774616981/8730901253 on or before 11 May 2023 latest by 4:00 PM,” it was informed.
Those societies/ SHGs/ individuals which have already registered for participation through the concerned line departments (MARCOFED, NSRLM, Cooperation, ATMA, LRD, KVK etc.) are not required to register again to the above contact points.
Basic TA/DA will be provided by the organizers, it was informed.
