Guwahati, 11 May (MTNews): In response to the volatile situation in Manipur, the North East India Theological Association (NEITA) held a meeting in Guwahati on 8-9 May where they strongly condemned the senseless acts of violence resulting in the loss of properties and lives. The Association also condemned the arson attacks on the Trulock Theological Seminary, which is one of the prominent members of NEITA.
In commitment to the cause of justice, love, and peace, the theological institutions under NEITA conveyed its support to the victims of violence in Manipur and prayed for all the members of the Trulock Theological Seminary and their families.
NEITA also conveyed its condolences to the families of all those who have lost their lives in this violence and called on all faith communities to pray and work for peace and harmony between all communities.
NEITA further urged the Head of State and the administrative machinery in Manipur and the Centre to expedite the efforts and process of rehabilitation for the victims who have been living in the camps and also to restore properties that have been destroyed and damaged.
The NEITA also urged that the process of justice be expedited soon so that the perpetrators will be accordingly punished and also urged that initiatives be taken to promote inter-community relations in order to bring peace and harmony to society.
NEITA in conclusion called on all the citizens in the state and the region to work together for a lasting solution and to live together in harmony.
