Hikali Achumi, Miss Nagaland 2022 and Miss Sümi 2022 along with Miss Sümi 2022 runners-up Linovi P Kiba and Niloli Wotsa, who are collectively known as ‘the silver queens’, unveiled a project called ‘The Silver Vision’ with the theme, “The Silver Vision for a Greener Progression” on 29 September 2022 in Zunheboto.
According to the silver queens, The Silver Vision began with a dream to bring in transformation in our Naga society that has become so comfortable with living a destructive lifestyle; “The Project aims to turn this approach by uplifting the way of living more sustainably.”
The Silver Queens launched their first-ever project under The Silver Vision banner known as the ‘Beauty with a Purpose Project’, on 29 September 2022 with a vision to promote “Beautification, Sanitation and Recycling” in Zunheboto. Among others, one of the objectives of The Silver Vision includes “reviving the element of beauty in our Sumi Land by incorporating eco-friendly means of living in our day to day life like upcycling used goods, ” Hikali Achumi as quoted by The Morung Express.
“We started this project to give our people a subtle reminder that our environment needs us as much as we need it. Rome was not built in a day, and we understand Zunheboto cannot achieve this feat overnight either.
However, looking at the direction that our society is heading, we realized we would have to start somewhere and someday, so we took this opportunity to kick start an environmental revival in our society.”
According to the silver queens, the initiative is an effort of all concerned citizens and youth of Zunheboto. As a result, the work undertaken by The Silver Vision is long-term, and it necessitates community participation in their main project, which is still ongoing and is actively participated in by all 12 sectors of Zunheboto town while competing to promote beautification, sanitation, and recycling in their respective sectors. “We are beyond happy to share that ever since the launch of this project; we have had the honour of witnessing the sectors and volunteers who turned trash into upscale items and continue to torch our vision.”
Aside from that, the project worked with the Miraculum Society Nagaland, visiting Noklak and organising charity work at the Adora Children’s Home, as well as painting the Government Middle School at North Point, Zunheboto.
“With that said, we can proudly add that The Silver Project is actively progressing even now to reach the silver lining, and if it is the will of God, we wish to go bigger and beyond Zunheboto.”
