Kohima, 8 July (MTNews): The 2nd Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) Battalion, Alichen successfully organized a scientific beekeeping training program on 8 July. The training, conducted by the Unit Family Welfare of 2nd NAP Battalion in collaboration with the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), aimed to provide scientific knowledge and local expertise to the personnel and their families, offering them opportunities to generate additional income.
Vekhosa Chakhesang, Commandant 2nd NAP Battalion, Alichen said that the main objective of the training was to impart scientific knowledge and local expertise to the family members of the Unit so as to give opportunities to the families for generating additional sources of income. Chakhesang expressed his gratitude to Sentiwapang, Additional Secretary of Agriculture and Team Leader of Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission, for facilitating the program.
The resource persons of the training included T Chuba Longkumer, Para Apiarist; Temjenchuba Kichu, TM, NBHM; and Francis Kikon TM, NBHM. They talked about scientific knowledge and bee keeping, honey extraction, management and post-harvest management.
The trainees were taught different methods of beekeeping and were familiarized with the technical aspects of beekeeping tools. The training program concluded with closing remarks delivered by Kaino, the Deputy Commandant of 2nd NAP Battalion, Alichen.
