Kohima, July 13 (MTNews): The Department of Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS) academy won the group championship title at the 33rd Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship which was held at the Pele Khezhie Indoor Stadium in Kohima. Interestingly, 26 players from the DYRS academy competed in the championship and won 26 medals, including 23 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and one bronze medal, a remarkable performance in the event.

Coach Visabiu Peseyie, State Taekwondo coach under DYRS and Vice President of Nagaland Taekwondo Association stated that the girls are performing better than in past championships and that he hopes his students excel in the national championships.
While the host team Kohima finished second with 29 medals, the Phek team was named the best disciplined team.

 

The competition was held in four divisions: sub junior, cadet, junior, and senior. The event attracted 252 participants from 9 districts and two departments, DYRS and Nagaland Police.
