F4C Academy overcome Jakhama O 2-1 to enter last-8

Kohima, 02 October (MTNews): F4C Academy, from Manipur, made a remarkable comeback after trailing by a goal to defeat Jakhama Youth Organization 2-1, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the 23rd NSF Martyrs Trophy 2023 Kohima on Monday.

During the first half of the game, Ntselo capitalized on a penalty opportunity in the 37th minute following a handball incident within the penalty area, giving Jakhama a lead. However, the second half witnessed Kamgouhao Doungle leveling the score with a long-range strike in the 49th minute.

 

The decisive moment of the match came in the 75th minute when Seigongin Chongloi, representing F4C, delivered a spectacular goal that ultimately secured their victory.

 

F4C Academy’s goalkeeper, Khaiminlen Touthang, was named the Man of the Match. The award was presented by Eno Khriezelhou Vitso, former ASU Executive and Co-convener of the 23rd NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy.

With this win, United FC Piphema advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face Asufü Football Academy.

In this thrilling match, Razoukhrielie opened the scoring for United FC Piphema in the 12th minute.

However, just eight minutes later, NU Kohima Campus had the opportunity to level the score through a penalty resulting from a foul play, and Shanti Y Konyak capitalized on it to equalize.

Nonetheless, United FC’s striker, Ayen Manga, found the net once again in the 37th minute, concluding the first half with a 2-1 lead.

Despite both teams having chances, neither could find the target in the second half, allowing United FC Piphema to maintain their lead until the final whistle.

The Man of the Match title was awarded to defender Joyson Rhi from United FC Piphema, and the award was presented by Seyieneilhou Keyho, former ASU Executive and President of the Chakhroma Youth Organisation.

 

Quarterfinal matches for NSF Trophy

New Market FC will face A Yhome FC on 5 October in the first quarterfinal match while the End of an Era will play against Liangmai FC on 6 October in the second quarterfinal match. In the third quarterfinal match, Asufü Football Academy will face off against United FC Piphema on 7 October. Meanwhile, on 9 October, Football for Change Academy will face the winner of the last pre-quarterfinal match between Viswemi FC and Red Scars FC. All quarterfinal matches will kick off at 5:00 pm.
