The Mokokchung Unit of the Mopungchuket Ait Laishir Telungjem (MALT), the Mopungchuket Students’ Union, celebrated its Platinum Jubilee on Tuesday, 24 October, at Aongza Ki, Mokokchung. This momentous occasion was celebrated under the theme “Watemsen Nükla,” which translates to “Future Ready.”
Founded in 1948, MALT Mokokchung was established with the primary goal of ensuring the welfare of students hailing from Mopungchuket village who were pursuing their studies in Mokokchung.
The Jubilee supplication prayer was led by Rev. Dr. A. Tali Ao, the Academic Dean at Clark Theological College, Aolijen while the keynote speakers included Aolemla Jamir, Kohima and Amba Jamir, a Policy & Development Advisor, who focused on looking ahead to the next 25 years leading up to the MALT Mokokchung Centenary based on the theme “Future Ready” in a fast changing world.
The Jubilee event also featured an exhortation delivered by S Wati Ozukum, the former treasurer of MALT Mokokchung. A Jubilee Souvenir book was unveiled during the program, published by the editorial committee led by Supongasang Jamir as the convener.
The program commenced with an opening act and a welcome address by Bendangkümzük Aier, President of MALT Mokokchung, while Jubilee greetings were extended by representatives of Mopungchuket Senso Telungjem Mokokchung; Ao Temolungtsür Telungjem, Mokokchung; the Mopungchuket Ait Laishir Telungjem (MALT); and the Chairman of Mopungchuket Village Council.
The celebration was distinguished by the adoption of MALT Mokokchung platinum jubilee resolution. Recognizing that research and documentation are the foundation of becoming ‘Future Ready,’ the Mopungchuket Ait Laishir Telungjem Mokokchung resolved to embark on research and documentation initiatives across various domains and take essential steps to prepare for the future based on these efforts.
The jubilee was attended by students, parents, organizations, and unions, including the Asetkong Students’ Conference and Sungratsu Students’ Union Mokokchung, as well as well-wishers who came together to celebrate the milestone.
The formal session was followed by a mass jubilee feast and an entertainment session.
