Phek, 18 January (MTNews): The Phek District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) convened its monthly meeting on 17 January 2024 at DPDB Hall Phek, led by Nagaland Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs and Chairman of Phek DPDB, KG Kenye.

Addressing the meeting, the chairman emphasized the significance of the three existing National Highway roads under Phek district, describing Phek as one of the most fortunate districts in the state. Concerning the ongoing construction of NH roads in Phek district, Kenye stressed that construction companies/contractors need to exert intensive efforts during the current dry season to ensure timely completion of the roads.

Kenye also informed the members about prospective developmental projects in the district, including the development of waterways (Tizu-Zunki Rivers). He requested sincere support from departmental officers wherever required.

The minister expressed deep appreciation and gratitude towards Legislators, Committee Conveners/Members, and HODs/Officers of Phek District for their devoted efforts, contributing to the grand success of the Celebration of the 50 years of Phek District on 21st December 2023. Additionally, the Minister suggested putting up a proposal for the renovation, extension, and furnishing of the DPDB Hall Phek.

MLA & Advisor for Taxes & CAWD, Kudecho Khamo, while speaking, urged the officers to be devoted to furthering the progress of the district. This is in line with the comments given by Nagaland CM Rio on the occasion of the 50 years of Phek district, where CM Rio mentioned Phek as the most progressive district in the State.

MLA, Dr Neisatuo Mero, expressed his appreciation towards Minister KG Kenye, his colleague MLAs, and officials for the successful celebration of the 50 years Phek district Jubilee.

Agendas for the registration of societies, specifically Phuyo Village Watershed Committee Sakraba and Kiavi Society Zelome, were discussed and forwarded to the government for approval.

DSCO, Peleneilhou Patrick, presented a PowerPoint presentation by highlighting activities and functions of the Department of Soil and Water Conservation in the district at the meeting.

DEF Police and Higher Education Departments were entrusted with a Powerpoint presentation in the next Phek DPDB meeting.

Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Phek, Kuko Mero, NCS, conducted the discussion during the meeting.
