Kohima, 25 February (MTNews): The wrestling games of the Khelo India University Games successfully concluded at IG Stadium, Kohima, on 25 February 2024. Governor of Nagaland La. Ganesan graced the closing ceremony as the special guest. The final bout of the women’s 65 kg category was also conducted during the program, where the Governor awarded medals to the winners.
In the men’s category, Chandigarh University was adjudged the group champions, while Guru Kashi University and Rani Chanamme secured the second and third positions, respectively. In the women’s category, Chandigarh University claimed the top position, with Lovely Professional University and Guru Kashi University securing the second and third positions, respectively.
During the program, traditional Naga wrestlers Venuzo Dawhuo and Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü demonstrated Naga traditional wrestling to showcase the unique wrestling style to the guests.
A total of 232 athletes, 25 technical officials, and 55 support staff from 72 universities across the country attended the games. The athletes and officials will depart on 26 February 2024.
