Mokokchung, 2 March (MTNews): Former Lok Sabha MP Candidate from the National People’s Party (NPP), Hayithung Bill Lotha, has announced his intent to contest in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Quashing speculations circulating on social media regarding his candidacy, Lotha emphasized his decision to heed to the “intense public pressure” from various sections of the Naga society and national-level political leaders.
In a statement received here, Lotha stated, “I have finally decided to again contest the ensuing 2024 Lok Sabha polls for the greater interest of the Nagas and safeguarding the constitutional democratic ethos of our great country Bharat.”
He further clarified that despite overtures from “national political parties” like the “Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) with 10 Lok Sabha MP’s” from Uttar Pradesh and the Trinamool Congress from West Bengal to”fight in their banner” he said, he is currently “not interested at all”.
Expressing his commitment to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving developed nation status by 2047, Lotha affirmed, “I am exploring the options to fight the ensuing polls in the right political platform aligned to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to achieve developed nation status by 2047”.
