Mokokchung, 6 April (MTNews): Meshenlo Kath, former Congress candidate and Co-Chairman of the Public Grievances Department (PGD) of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), rallied support for Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Supongmeren Jamir, appealing the Mokokchung voters to prove that even an opposition can win election. He said this during the ‘Candidature Declaration cum Campaign Kick-off’ rally for Supongmeren Jamir at Town Hall, Mokokchung on 6 April.
“Just as you were pioneers in bringing Christianity when no one else did, this time, you can set a new policy by showing the world that the opposition can also win elections,” appealed Kath to the Mokokchung electorate.
“You have to prove that a candidate without MLAs, but with good aims and objectives can also win elections,” Kath reiterated.
In a direct critique of People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) candidate Dr. Chumben Murry, Kath accused him of delivering scripted speeches lacking authenticity. He alleged that Murry’s oratory skills were overshadowed by repetitive content and unchanged facial expressions, suggesting a reliance on prepared statements.

Kath questioned Murry’s assertion that solutions should only be sought after development, expressing doubt about his commitment to addressing issues directly. He asked how long the NDPP-BJP can fool the Nagas by campaigning on “solution” before the election but forget about it afterward.
He also scrutinized Murry’s statements regarding the Northeast Christian Forum, raising concerns about the candidate’s stance on religious freedom. Highlighting the importance of secularism and freedom of religion, Kath argued that Murry’s rhetoric contradicted these principles. He urged voters to consider candidates who uphold secular values and advocate for the rights of religious freedom.
