In pursuance of Section 26 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer (DEO) of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, has appointed Counting Supervisors, Tabulators, IT Teams, Counting Assistants, and for other counting-related assignments, including MTS/Grade-IV, in connection with the counting for the General Election to the Lok Sabha 2024, scheduled by the ECI to be held on June 4, 2024.
As per Section 28A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the officials so appointed are deemed to be on deputation to the Election Commission of India and shall be subject to the control, superintendence, and discipline of the Election Commission of India. Section 26 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, empowers the District Election Officer to impose all obligations on such officers irrespective of their consent, under the threat of prosecution under Section 134 of the said Act in case of default. This principle equally applies to any refusal to attend training, as it is part of the obligations of such appointment as counting personnel.
A training for Micro-Observers, Counting Supervisors, Tabulators, and Counting Assistants will commence at 11:00 AM on May 30, 2024, at Town Hall, Mokokchung. Further, they are informed to report at 6:00 AM on the counting date (June 4, 2024) at the counting venue (DC’s Conference Hall).
