The singer shares a brief conversation about his music journey with Mokokchung Times today.

MTNews: Hello Kid Jingx! Congratulations on your new song, Grinding 0.2! Are you happy with the kind of reception it has been receiving? It’s almost 130k views.
Kid Jingx: Hello MTNews! Firstly, thank you for having me. I am very thankful to the audience for the kind of reception my song is receiving and I’m more than happy that the song is doing well.

MTNews: Kindly tell us a little more about yourself and the personality behind Kid Jingx the musician.
Kid Jingx: Well, I’m in college now and I have been into music since forever but I started with my debut single “Down & Dirty ‘’ which got released on Indihut when I was just sixteen. Talking about personality, I guess I’m a very outgoing person who loves discovering and experimenting new things, especially when it comes to music.

MTNews: Is there a story or an inspiration behind the name, Kid Jingx?
Kid Jingx: Yes, actually. The story is that, when I was younger and told people I wanted to do music and everything, they always responded with a “You’re just a kid, sit still.” Or, “You won’t be able to do it Kid, it takes a lot of work,” and so on. That’s when I decided I would use “Kid” to show ‘em that I’m still the same kid they didn’t have faith in and, well, “Jingx” is derived from my surname.

MTNews: Grinding 0.2 has such an early 90s feel with all the lighting and the camera. However, the MV says, ‘Back to early 50s’. I may be wrong but do you have a specific inspiration for it?
Kid Jingx: First off, shout out to Kohdi Jings for doing such an amazing job with the video. The “Back to the early 50’s” was just a lighting that was hanging in the place. The concept was just to shoot a fun video with a retro theme.

MTNews: You have collaborated with JPollnd in one of your demos titled ‘Now’. How was it working with him again? Do you intend to collaborate with any of the artists in the future?
Kid Jingx: Working with the homie JPollnd is always fun; he knows what he needs to do and is also a very genuine and humble person off camera.
I see a lot of good artists here and I’m open to any ideas or features with anyone.

MTNews: Walk us through how you got involved in the music writing process and were able to execute it so well in your debut music video.
Kid Jingx: I had an older version of the song on Spotify but it didn’t reach my expectations so I talked with JP and we made it into a better song with the help of VeeZy. The writing process was just to write about our own hustle and how we’re coming up.

MTNews: To whom or at what do you look up to for your music inspiration?
Kid Jingx: That’s very random with me, it changes according to the wave and when inspirations hit. It could be through any random person on a very random day or something I saw on social media or anything like that.

MTNews: Can we expect more new singles or an album in the near future? How about a plan on experimenting with a different genre?
Kid Jingx: Obviously! I have lots of ideas for a lot of songs so brace yourself. Also, like I said, I love experimenting with different things so you can expect a genre fusion anytime soon.

MTNews: Do you think musicians in Nagaland can now have a career? How do you think the music industry of Nagaland has changed over the past few years?
Kid Jingx: Honestly, it’s not impossible but not easy as well, especially if you’re not signed to a label or backed up by some organizations. The music industry is doing pretty good even now with all the events and everything compared to the past years so yep, it’s still growing.

MTNews: Leave a message behind for our readers and your fans.
Kid Jingx: Well, I’m no one to leave a message but all I can say is “Tell your mountains about your God,” and everything will fall into its place slowly. Thank you so much MTNews for having me once again. Godspeed!
