The new school building of Government Primary School (GPS) Aoyim village under Chumoukedima was inaugurated today by Temsunaro Aier, Commissioner & Secretary IPR and State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
The school building was constructed following the approval made during 2021-22 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Addressing the inaugural function, Aier congratulated the school on the successful completion of the new building. She lauded the community leaders for their contributions beyond the sanction provided by Samagra Shiksha and expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work.
Aier emphasized that active community participation in schools is crucial to achieving the desired outcomes. She also acknowledged Mr. and Mrs. Sunep Lemtur, G.B. Aoyim village, for generously donating a substantial piece of land for setting up the school.
Speaking to the village leaders and teachers, Aier informed them that the state is focusing on improving student learning outcomes through various interventions. She referenced the NEP 2020 shift to competency-based education and urged teachers to ensure that every child acquires grade-appropriate competencies.
Aier reminded the gathering about the NAS 2021 and FLS 2022 reports from the Ministry of Education, Government of India, which highlighted poor state achievement levels, and called on all stakeholders to work harder.
Quoting the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” she stressed that no child should be left behind and urged the villagers to continue their active participation in the school. She encouraged the villagers to nurture the school with the hope that it will grow into a high school or higher secondary school in the future.
The program was chaired by Aotula Anichari, Teacher GPS Aoyim. Lanuzulu, Pastor ABC, invoked God’s blessings, while the welcome address and vote of thanks were proposed by Imlinuken Ao, Chairman of the village council, and Lima G.B., respectively.
The program was attended by village leaders, teachers, Dr Longri, former MLA, District Education Officer N Meyase, Sr SDEO Dimapur, SDEO Chumoukedima, EBRC officials, and officials from the District Education Office Dimapur.
