The 19th Late Imtitemjen Memorial Table Tennis Tournament, organized by the Mokokchung District Table Tennis Association (MDTTA), began today at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Mokokchung, featuring a total of 40 participants.

The tournament format includes the following categories: Under 15 singles and doubles (boys), Under 19 singles and doubles (boys), Under 21 singles and doubles (boys and girls), men’s open singles and doubles, and women’s open singles.

In his welcome address, President of MDTTA, Ali Walling, mentioned that champions from the various categories will be chosen to represent the district in the upcoming Nagaland inter-district tournament.

Special guest Imtiyapang Imsong, treasurer of the Nagaland Table Tennis Association and councilor of the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), emphasized that table tennis is the perfect game for the Nagas. He highlighted the importance of self-discipline and sacrifice for sportspersons aiming for success, and he discussed various career opportunities in the field of sports.

The tournament will take place over two days, on September 23rd and 24th, 2024, with winners receiving cash prizes along with certificates.
