The Kiphire District Cricket Association Silver Jubilee Tournament saw a series of gripping encounters today, highlighted by standout performances and tight finishes.


In the opening match of the day, DC XI clashed with Abide Club in a one-sided battle. Chunmon of DC XI stole the show with a remarkable hat-trick, earning himself the Man of the Match title. DC XI posted a competitive total of 162/9 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Abide Club faltered and were bowled out for just 69 runs.

The excitement continued in the second match, where Saramati Nexus Club edged past Kiphire Knight Riders by a slender margin of 1 run. Rajan of Saramati Nexus Club was awarded the Man of the Match for his crucial contribution of 53 runs.

The day’s action culminated in a shortened thriller between DC XI and Kiphire Super Kings, reduced to 5 overs per side. Kiphire Super Kings managed 45/6 on the board, but DC XI chased down the target with ease, scoring 48/1 in 4.5 overs to clinch victory by 9 wickets.

President Justin Khatomong T of the Kiphire District Cricket Association expressed his delight at the thrilling contests witnessed throughout the day. “It was an exhilarating series of matches,” he remarked, appreciating the emergence of young talents in the district.

Khatomong extended his gratitude to the Nagaland Cricket Association for its unwavering support and envisioned more avenues for youth development through cricket in the district. He urged young athletes to consider sports as a viable career path, encouraging them to pursue excellence beyond recreational play.

Despite a brief rain delay, the matches enthralled spectators and players alike, exhibiting the growing enthusiasm for cricket in Kiphire District.
