Hosts Tuensang emerged victorious against Peren, securing a 2-1 win in the final of the Dr. T Ao Trophy 2024, held today, 27 September, at the Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground in Tuensang. The home team displayed resilience and capitalized on their familiarity with the ground to edge past Peren in a tightly contested match.

Tuensang took the lead in the 23rd minute through an own goal by Peren’s Chidiheu, but the visitors quickly responded with an equalizer in the 38th minute by Kenumdi, leveling the match just before halftime. However, in extra time of the first half, Tuensang regained the lead with a crucial goal by Ayenmongba, which ultimately proved decisive.
The second half saw both teams coming close to scoring, but neither managed to find the back of the net, leaving the score unchanged.
With this victory, Tuensang claims the prestigious Dr T Ao Trophy, celebrating a significant win on their home turf. This was also their maiden appearance on a Dr T Ao Trophy finals.
Champions Tuensang received the Dr T Ao Trophy, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs while runners-up Peren were awarded a trophy, medals, and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs.
