The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) has announced its decision to continue the non-cooperation with the NSCN-K (Khango) after the latter failed to address a key point in their recent agreement. The decision comes after a meeting between AYO and NSCN-K (Khango) on August 20, 2024, which was facilitated by the Ceasefire Monitoring Group/Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFMG/CFSB).

According to AYO, in response to a request letter from the Supervisor of CFSB/NSCN (K) Khango, the AYO met with a delegation from NSCN-K (Khango), led by Kilo Kilonser Visheto Yeptho and CFSB Supervisor A Imyapangba Ao. The meeting was held in good faith to resolve an ongoing issue between AYO and the NSCN-K (Khango) group. The discussions resulted in a four-point agreement aimed at resolving the conflict.

A statement from AYO said that a key assurance was provided by the Special Secretary to Hukato Vushe, General Secretary of NSCN-K (Khango), in a letter dated August 2, 2024, which confirmed that the delegation represented the collective message of the NSCN group, not their individual opinions. Following a lengthy dialogue, both parties agreed to the four-point resolution, including the commitment to publicly identify a person known as “Max Naga” and take disciplinary action within 15 days. In return, AYO agreed to withdraw its non-cooperation and recall of Angami workers from the NSCN-K (Khango).

However, the AYO said that despite the agreement, the NSCN-K (Khango) has not fulfilled Point No. 3 of the accord, which called for the disclosure of Max Naga’s identity and appropriate disciplinary action. As of now, the deadline has passed, and the NSCN-K (Khango) has not made any public statement or taken action on this matter.

In this regard, AYO held a meeting with senior leaders and representatives from the four ranges—Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO), Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO), Western Angami Youth Organization (WAYO), and Chakhroma Youth Organization (CYO)—and unanimously resolved to uphold the resolution of the 20 August Agreement.  AYO stated that the non-cooperation with NSCN-K (Khango) will continue until Point No. 3 is fully addressed.
