The Nyekhatsomi Union Kohima held its 1st Family Gathering Program under the chairmanship of Vedayi Nyekha, former president of the Chakhesang Public Organization, and hosted by Kühusayi Nyekha & family on December 7 at Kruzo Park, Tsiesema Basa.
The program commenced with an invocation by Rev. Thüpu-o Nyekha and an awakening song presented by Aralü Phesao & Jojo Sasü.


Padma Shree Sano Vamuzo was the keynote speaker. In her speech, she referenced the past, from Adam and Eve to today’s contemporary age, and wished everyone a blessed life.

Rev Zhowhüyi Nyekha, the oldest serving senior pastor in Kohima, who turned 94, prayed for the Nyekhatsomi generation.

Zaveyi Nyekha (Retd), Principal Director of School Education, highlighted a brief historical record of the Nyekha forefathers.

Vevo Sapuh (Retd), Director of Art & Culture, also exhorted the gathering.

Mülüzolü Nyekha enthralled the gathering with a melodious song.

In thanksgiving to Almighty God, the Union presented certificates of appreciation to 10 outstanding personalities from the Nyekha clan, recognizing their contributions in various fields. The recipients included: Lt Vamuzo, Former Chief Minister of Nagaland; Padma Shree Sano Vamuzo; Rev Zhowhüyi Nyekha, Senior Pastor, CCRC Kohima Upper PWD; Rev. Vevo Phesao, Senior Pastor, CBC MHK; Rev. Thüpu-o Nyekha, Pastor of Christian Life Church Kohima; the late Dr Küthonüyi Phesao (Retd.), Director of Vety & Animal Husbandry; Zaveyi Nyekha (Retd.), Principal Director, School Education; Vevo Sapuh (Retd.), Director of Art & Culture; Kükusho Phesao (Retd.), Director of School Education; and Kühusayi Nyekha, the host of the program.
