The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) will host the Northeast Trade and Investment Roadshow in Mumbai on Monday. The event will feature Union Minister for MDoNER, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, along with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.

Chanchal Kumar, Secretary of MDoNER, and Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary of MDoNER, will also attend, along with senior representatives from various northeastern states. The Roadshow will include B2G meetings, providing an opportunity for investors to directly engage with state representatives and explore investment opportunities across multiple sectors.

The event is being organized in partnership with the state governments of the North Eastern states, FICCI (Industry Partner), and Invest India (Investment Facilitation Partner). It marks the sixth in a series of roadshows aimed at highlighting investment opportunities in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Key sectors for investment include agri-food processing, IT and ITES, entertainment, energy, infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, and education.

The roadshow is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to promote economic development in the region, which includes infrastructure improvements in roadways, airways, railways, and waterways. Previous events in cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, as well as a state seminar at Vibrant Gujarat, have led to interest from investors.

MDoNER will also hold a signing and exchange of MoUs event for the North East Investors Summit on March 6, 2024, at Vigyan Bhawan, to facilitate discussions between senior officials and investors. The Mumbai Roadshow is expected to continue this momentum, focusing on investment prospects in the region. (With inputs from ANI)
