Mokokchung, April 2 (MTNews): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) said today that it has been “cautiously observing the sequence of proceedings that followed” after the remarks made by Nagaland Minister, Temjen Imna Along on the “Indo-Naga political issue at the recently culminated session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.”

AKM president Nungdokyanger Ao and general secretary Nekmi Longkumer also asked “all the stakeholders engaged in active negotiation with the Government of India, including the state government, to enlighten the general Naga masses on the status of the talks as Nagas are today in a state of confusion and dilemma.”

The AKM then appealed the state government of Nagaland to “clarify unambiguously whether the statement made by the Hon’ble Minister on the floor of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on the issue of ‘Naga Flag and Constitution’ was factually said by the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, reportedly during a meeting where the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland was also said to be present, and clear all doubts once and for all.”

The AKM further said that, as an organization, it has from its inception been a strong believer in the Nagas’ right for self-determination and has adopted a resolution during their Platinum Jubilee year 2004 to support the peace process to bring about a solution acceptable to all.

“Since then, AKM has time and again resolved and supported the peace process which continues to this date,” AKM added.
