ASA 53rd Games and Sports Meet 2025 begins

The inaugural ceremony of the 53rd Games and Sports Meet 2025 of the Angami Sports Association was held at I.G. Stadium, Kohima, on February 6, 2025, with Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, as the special guest.

Encouraging the players, Kumar highlighted that sports have become a significant field in today’s world, offering career opportunities unlike in the past. He stated that sports can now be a full-time occupation. Asserting that the event is not just about competition but a movement, the DC emphasized the need for young players to have the right platform and proper training to excel. He urged the players to dedicate their time and energy to becoming better sportspersons. “A player should be well-disciplined to take on challenges and represent our country with good team spirit,” he added.

ASA President Ruokuovikho Chale, in his presidential address, extended his gratitude to all the leaders, players, and individuals who contributed towards the event in the larger interest of fostering brotherhood among the present and future generations. He stated that the Angami Sports Association serves as a platform for unity, emphasizing that the sports meet is more than just games—it is a movement built on endurance and respect.

Highlighting its inclusivity, he mentioned that the tournament selection process begins at the Khel level, progressing through the village, group, and range levels, including organizations such as Chakhroma Youth Organisation, Western Youth Organisation, Northern Angami Sports Association, and Southern Angami Sports Association.

He also acknowledged the leaders and unsung heroes who have played a crucial role in promoting youth development. “These young athletes standing before us today are among the best of the Angami community—capable, intellectual, and physically and mentally fit,” he said. He encouraged all the boys and girls to focus on their leaders’ guidance and advice for the future.
