Secheku Range Sports Association (SRSA) staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down to defeat defending champions Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) 4-2, securing a place in the men’s football final of the ongoing 38th Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) meet at Phek Town on Friday.

Secheku will face Tizu Area Sports Association (TASA) in the final on Saturday to determine the new district champions. The winner will receive Rs 300,000 along with the Late Soyie Doulo Memorial Trophy.

CASA took the lead with a goal from Thujosa in the 6th minute, followed by Vehuto Ringa’s strike in the 40th minute. However, Kozo Kapfo turned the game around with goals in the 47th, 57th, and 71st minutes. Erilo sealed the victory for Secheku with a late goal in the 80th minute.

In the other semifinal, TASA defeated Centre Chakhesang Sports Association 2-1. Despite trailing by a goal, TASA equalized and netted the winner in the second half to book their spot in the final.

In the women’s football event, Secheku Range will face Centre Chakhesang in the final after winning their respective semifinal matches on Friday.

On day four, Chokri Area Games and Sports Association secured four final spots out of six events. They advanced to the finals of basketball and volleyball despite a disappointing football performance.

Chokri Area edged past Chozuba Area 42-40 in the first men’s basketball semifinal, while Western Chakhesang defeated Centre Chakhesang 38-33 to claim the other final spot.

In women’s basketball, Chokri Area will take on Phek Area in the final after defeating Secheku 27-2. Phek Area advanced by beating Sekruzu 22-12.

In volleyball, Chozuba Area defeated Phek Area in straight sets (25-16, 25-19), while Chokri Area overcame Sekruzu (26-24, 25-21). Chozuba Area will now face Chokri Area in the final.

In the women’s volleyball, Chokri Area will play Western Chakhesang after defeating Tizu, while Western Chakhesang secured their spot by overcoming Chozuba.

On the final day of the meet, MLA and Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo Nienu, will be the guest of honour at the closing ceremony.
