Mokokchung Police intercepted a truck carrying a large quantity of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during a routine checking operation on National Highway at Chuchuyimpang Village. The Ashok Leyland truck, bearing registration number AS26AC-1466, was en route to Mokokchung Town when it was stopped by authorities.

Upon inspection, according to a press release from Additional SP Mokokchung, police recovered a staggering 790 cases of MC Rum, including 72 cases of 750ml bottles, 80 cases of 375ml bottles, and 638 cases of 180ml bottles. The total seizure amounted to 790 cases of the banned liquor.

The authorities arrested three individuals in connection with the consignment: Lensekhea (25 years), resident of Waphur, Mongsenbai Ward, Mokokchung; Utpal Das (31 years), resident of Gondhmow No-1, Sualkuchi, Assam; and Jaychandra Hazarika (33 years), resident of Mokrung Tea Estate, Golaghat, Assam.

The three accused were arrested under Section 44(e) of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act for transporting the banned IMFL into Mokokchung Town. A complaint against the accused has been forwarded to the Court for further legal proceedings.
