Guwahati, April 15 (MTNews): Nagaland Women started their T20 domestic tournament in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 league in Guwahati with a thumping win over Arunachal Pradesh. Nagaland won the match by a huge 122-run margin in the first game of the tournament. Kiran Navgire(167 runs,76 balls, 4’sx10, 6’sx16) and Poonam Khemnar (59 runs, 37balls, 4’sx9,6×1) shared a record 168-run stand for the 1st wicket as Nagaland posted 232/2 in their 20 overs. Kiran was pretty aggressive in the powerplay as Nagaland crossed 100-run mark before halfway stage. Kiran’s inning could be the highest T20 individual score by a woman which is yet to be confirmed.
Nagaland’s Alemienla was run out for naught but K Navgire and P Khemnar build the game before the later fell for 59. Skipper Sentilemla remained not out at 3.
Chasing the mammoth target, Arunachal team were restricted to just 110/3 in 20 overs. For Nagaland, Talirenla, Poonam and Kiran took a wicket each. Nagaland will play Manipur tomorrow at 4:30 pm at ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati.
