A newly constructed pay-and-use toilet was inaugurated today at Arkong Ward, Mokokchung, near Yongpang Market. Chairman of Arkong Ward Yimden, Toshimeren, stated that the construction of the facility was donated by Hulash Chand Saini, proprietor of Survival Enterprise, Arkong Ward, and expressed gratitude for his generosity. He also expressed gratitude to the landowners, Ungma Yimpang Pongen Kidong and the family of the late Tsukjem of Ungma, for allotting the plot of land for the construction of the much-needed facility.


The chairman also said it was a landmark development, as a businessman from Rajasthan had constructed a public utility facility on land donated by private individuals, describing it as the first of its kind in Mokokchung town.

The Arkong Ward Yimden chairman also urged residents to take responsibility for the maintenance of the public property and to ensure its hygiene and cleanliness. With separate facilities available for both males and females, the lavatory is now open for public use at a rate of Rs 10 for urinals and Rs 20 for toilets.

The donor, Hulash Chand Saini, in his brief address, expressed satisfaction at the completion of the facility and called for continued cooperation and willingness to support the community in the future.

 

A dedicatory prayer for the newly constructed facility was pronounced by Sashiwati, Deacon, MTBA. The programme was cahired by Jongpongtemjen, Secretary, Arkong Yimden.
