Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio recently met with the Ambassadors of Thailand and Japan to India, reaffirming Nagaland’s commitment to nurturing closer relations with the two countries.

In a tweet posted on Wednesday, Dr Rio shared that it was “a pleasure to meet H.E. Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand to India.” He stated that their discussion focused on “ways to strengthen our ties and further enhance bilateral relations.” The Chief Minister also expressed his appreciation, saying he was “grateful to @ThailandinIndia for the gracious hospitality.”
In a separate engagement, Rio also met with ONO Keiichi, Ambassador of Japan to India. Describing the interaction as “a pleasure,” he noted that both sides “reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening ties and advancing our shared goals.” He further extended thanks to the Japanese mission: “I thank @JapaninIndia for the warm hospitality.”
While details of the meetings were not disclosed, the Chief Minister’s outreach is seen as a positive step in promoting cultural and developmental cooperation between Nagaland and the Southeast Asian and East Asian nations.
