Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio arrived at Jindal Vijayanagar Airport, Karnataka, today for a two-day official visit hosted by the JSW Group. The visit aims to strengthen partnerships in sports development, industrial collaboration, and cultural exchange between Nagaland and one of India’s leading private-sector conglomerates.


Rio was received at the airport by JSW executives and officials of the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), where a key portion of the visit will take place.

Accompanying him is a high-level delegation of senior dignitaries from Nagaland, including: Abu Metha, Advisor to CM, Chairman of the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), and Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India; Rusemtong Longkumer, PRO to the CM; Kechangulie Rio, President, Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA); Benei M Lamthiu, Chairman, Nagaland Super League (NSL) and MLA; Neibou Sekhose, Executive Member, All India Football Federation (AIFF), and President, Nagaland Football Association (NFA); Kethosituo Sekhose, Director, Youth Resources and Sports (DYRS); Kuputo Shohe, Chairman, Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation (NSMDC) and Joint Secretary, Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA); and V Hibo, OSD, Security


The itinerary includes interactions with JSW Group leadership, observation of ongoing high-performance training for Nagaland’s athletes at IIS, and meetings with Olympians and sports professionals. The delegation will also tour JSW’s major facilities, including the Vijayanagar Steel Plant and Kaladham cultural centre.

One highlight of the visit is the Chief Minister’s interaction with the NSL Youth Team, currently undergoing advanced training at IIS. The team is set to play friendly matches, including a key fixture against Bengaluru FC on June 28.
