A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited Nagaland from July 7 to 9, 2025, to review the progress of the proposed Medical College Hospital at the Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Kohima.

The three-member JICA team comprised Arima, Senior Representative; Aditi Puri, Additional Chief Development Specialist; and Mahua Mukherjee, Additional Lead Project Officer. The team held discussions with officials from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, and representatives from the Project Management Consultant (PMC), as part of the ongoing review.

The project, aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure and advancing medical education in the state, is being implemented by the Department of Health and Family Welfare with financial assistance under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) Loan Agreement No. ID-P322. The agreement was signed between JICA and the Government of India on February 20, 2024.

As part of their itinerary, the JICA delegation visited the NIMSR campus in Kohima, where the medical college hospital is proposed to be built. While construction is yet to begin, the team reviewed preparatory activities currently underway.
