Nagaland University, under the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Program initiated by the Government of India, organised a Youth Parliament and Debate Competition on August 1, 2025, at the Department of Political Science. The event was graced by Albert Khizho, Finance Officer of Nagaland University, as the chief guest.

Faculty members present included Prof. Dasarathi Bhuiyan, Head of the Department of Political Science, along with committee members Dr. Likhase Sangtam (Chairperson), Dr. Monalisa Tase (Member), Dr. Tiasunep (Point of Contact for Zunheboto District), Dr. Neizhanuo Golmei (Nodal Faculty), and Peter Ki (Nodal Officer).

Around 40 students actively participated in the event, engaging in discussions and debates on the theme “Emergency Period in India.” The panel of judges comprised Dr. Monalisa Tase, Dr. Deepak Bhaskar, and Dr. Suraj Beri.

Winners of the Youth Parliamentarian category were Mengo Neangbo, Neizokhonuo, and Moamongba Jamir, while Imsu Waden Ozukum and Ilihima H. Yepthomi emerged as winners of the Debate Competition. These students will now advance to the District Level, with the opportunity to compete at the State Level if successful.

The inaugural session, attended by faculty, officers, and students, featured brief speeches by Dr. Likhase Sangtam, Albert Khizho, and Prof. Dasarathi Bhuiyan.
