The 20th instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi was marked with programs at Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in Mokokchung, Phek and Zunheboto districts on August 2, 2025. The events featured the live webcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address, along with awareness sessions and interactions to benefit local farmers.
At KVK Yisemyong, Mokokchung, the program was jointly organized by KVK Mokokchung and the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mokokchung. Dr. Keviletsu Khate, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Mokokchung, delivered the keynote address, explaining the origin, purpose, and significance of the PM-Kisan scheme for the farming community.
Temsuliba, Agriculture Inspector, District Agriculture Office Mokokchung, presented an update on the status of beneficiaries in the district. Dr. Rongsennungla, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Mokokchung, encouraged participants who had not yet enrolled in the scheme to do so. The program was chaired by Dr. Martha, ACTO (Plant Protection), and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Sarendi Walling, ACTO (Animal Science). A total of 240 farmers attended the event.
Meanwhile, at ICAR-KVK Phek (under ICAR-NRC on Mithun), the program began with a welcome address by Dr T Esther Longkumer, CTO (Soil Science), who also highlighted ongoing activities of KVK Phek. Zalekhu Lohe, Agricultural Inspector from Pfutsero, spoke on the mandates of the PM-Kisan Scheme and other agriculture-related programs.
Vinoka, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Phek, highlighted ATMA’s key initiatives, focusing on capacity building, documentation, and income-generating activities for farmers. Manjunath K.S., SMS (Horticulture), stressed the importance of vegetable cultivation for nutritional security.
A Farmer-Scientist Interaction Session was also held, enabling farmers to engage with experts from KVK and allied departments on agriculture, horticulture, and livestock-related queries. Er Nukusa T Vadeo, TO (Computer), conducted an awareness session on agricultural drones.
The Phek program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Harini KR, SMS (Animal Science), followed by the distribution of vegetable and soybean seeds to farmers to promote productivity and food security.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Zunheboto, under Nagaland University also organized the live streaming at the I Ihoshe Hall, Auditorium, Nagaland University, Lumami.
