The fourth quarterfinal of the Dr T Ao Trophy between Kohima and Wokha at the IG Stadium, Kohima, was suspended on Tuesday evening after dense fog made further play impossible.
The match was evenly poised at 1–1 when it was halted, with just over 15 minutes of regulation time left. Wokha stunned the home crowd in the 20th minute when Mhabemo Kikon found the net. Kohima fought back in the second half, with Kevizakie equalising in the 72nd minute. However, only minutes after the goal, heavy fog rolled in, forcing the referee to halt play at 74.40 minutes.
Following a prolonged delay and worsening conditions, organisers decided to resume the remaining minutes of the match on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
Wokha has been one of the surprise packages of this year’s tournament, reaching the quarterfinals alongside Mokokchung at the expense of former champions Phek District from Group C. Their spirited run has set up a compelling clash with Kohima, a more experienced squad that will look to avoid an upset.
The resumption of the Kohima–Wokha match will decide the final semifinalist who will face Nuiland.
Meanwhile, the first semifinal match between Mon and Mokokchung will be played on Wednesday, August 13, at 3:00 p.m., while the second semifinal between Niuland and the winner of the Kohima–Wokha match will take place at 6:00 p.m. the same day.
