The awards were conferred based on the recommendation of the District Level Selection Committee in recognition of the awardees’ meritorious service towards humanity and the teaching profession.

The teachers who received the District Teachers Award 2025 are: Dr Mereninla Panthy Jamir, PGT, GHSS Tuli;  I Tsukjempokba, GT, Mayangnokcha GHSS; Imkumzuba, Head Teacher, GMS Nokpu; and  Alemyanger, Teacher-in-Charge, GPS Changtongya Yimsen.

Congratulating the awardees, DEO Mokokchung, Sentinenla, announced that the Chief Minister today launched Mission SOAR along with the introduction of music in the elementary section. “Let us work together to ensure that every child, regardless of background, receives quality education,” she said.

She also lamented that Teachers’ Day, which was initially planned by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) as in previous years, had to be postponed due to “certain misunderstandings and issues.”

It may be recalled that AKM, along with the rest of the CNTC, had resolved to abstain from participating in the Teachers’ Day celebration in solidarity with the CoRRP over the job reservation policy.

DC Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar IAS, described teachers as the “backbone and foundation of society,” adding that recognition alone is not the essence of the award.

“If teachers can bring about a small change in the mindset of society or motivate someone, the reward lies there,” he said.

The program was organized by the District Education Office, Mokokchung.
