A 10-day Special Awareness Campaign on women’s empowerment and gender sensitization has concluded in Mokokchung district, featuring a series of programs designed to raise awareness, build skills, and strengthen women’s rights. The campaign was organised by Sankalp-District Hub for Empowerment of Women and the District Administration, Mokokchung, and engaged a wide range of participants including women, adolescent girls, Anganwadi workers, village council members, and female prisoners.

The campaign featured awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, along with the distribution of sanitary napkins and personal hygiene kits. A special awareness program was held for female inmates at the District Jail Mokokchung, where relief aid was also provided to women and girls affected by the ongoing landslide disaster.

On September 8, a three-month tailoring training course was launched to promote skill development and economic independence for women and girls. Capacity-building sessions on the DV Act, POSH Act, and other women-centric legislations were conducted for women police personnel in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority.

Sessions on workplace safety, including awareness on the SHe-Box and POSH Act, were organised along with a one-day self-defense training for Presiding Officers of Internal Complaints Committees on September 10. The training was conducted by an all-female team of instructors from the Mokokchung Taekwondo Association.

On September 11, Dr. Limanaro, DPO RMNCAH+N, led an awareness session on anemia prevention and early detection at Fazl Ali College. The campaign culminated on September 12 with an exposure visit for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Adolescent Girls Club to Nagaland University, Lumami, inspiring interest in science, higher education, and career opportunities.
