A total of 461 cases were settled during the 3rd Quarter National Lok Adalat (NLA) organized by District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), with a settlement amount of Rs. 5,62,48,868. During the daylong NLA sitting, 543 cases were taken up for disposal.

The cases were at pre-litigation and pending stages. Out of 515 pre-litigation cases, 449 were disposed of, while 12 of the 28 pending cases were successfully settled. Most cases included bank loan recoveries, telephone bills, and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases.

Mon District: The 3rd Quarterly NLA was held at the District Court Complex, Mon. The proceedings saw 39 pre-litigation bank recovery cases, out of which 11 were settled, resulting in a total settlement of Rs. 17,55,024. The DLSA was presided over by District & Sessions Judge, Mon-cum-Chairman, DLSA Mon, with the Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, DLSA Mon, and panel lawyers serving as conciliators.

Nagaland’s 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat settles 461 cases

Tuensang District: At SBI Longkhim, 40 bank recovery cases were taken up, and 14 were successfully settled with a total amount of Rs. 3,69,900. The Lok Adalat was presided over by Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman, DLSA Tuensang, along with retainer and panel lawyers as conciliators.

Kiphire District: The 3rd Lok Adalat at SBI Pungro Branch focused on bank loan cases. Out of 29 cases, 25 were disposed of with settlements totaling Rs. 42,75,700. The proceedings were conducted smoothly with the cooperation of bank officials and conciliators.

Zunheboto District: The 3rd Quarterly NLA at District Court Complex Zunheboto addressed 15 pre-litigation bank recovery cases, of which 13 were settled, totaling Rs. 19,02,123. District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman ZDLSA presided over the session, with two conciliators facilitating the proceedings.

Wokha District: The 3rd National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Wokha handled 12 pre-litigation and one pending trial bank recovery case, with a total settlement amount of Rs. 22,24,621.

Phek District: At District Court Complex Phek, 59 pre-litigation bank recovery cases from SBI, Canara Bank, and cooperative banks across Phek, Pfutsero, Chozuba, and Chizami were taken up. All were settled with a total amount of Rs. 33,09,556.

Mokokchung District: The 3rd Lok Adalat at the District Court disposed of 12 bank loan recovery cases and one MACT case, totaling Rs. 17,12,418.

Peren District: The Lok Adalat at SBI Jalukie Branch settled 17 of 25 pre-litigation bank recovery cases, amounting to Rs. 13,97,500.

Kohima District: The 3rd Quarterly NLA at District Court Kohima handled 40 bank recovery and 15 BSNL cases. All 55 cases were disposed of, with a total settlement amount of Rs. 1,28,84,877.

Dimapur District: At District Court Complex Dimapur, 164 cases, including bank, MACT, and BSNL disputes, were taken up and fully settled, totaling Rs. 2,41,74,325. More than 24 banks participated in the proceedings.

Longleng District: The 3rd National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Longleng, conducted with SBI Longleng Branch, addressed 77 pre-litigation bank recovery cases. All were disposed of, with settlements totaling Rs. 19,42,824. Community members assisted defaulters and distributed leaflets on legal services and social welfare schemes.
