The All-Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) has voiced concern over the continued absence of several Heads of Departments (HoDs) and government officers from their assigned postings in Zunheboto district, describing the situation as detrimental to public service delivery and development.

The union, in a press statement issued on Sunday, highlighted that effective governance depends on the presence and commitment of government functionaries, and stressed that officers must take their responsibilities seriously.

The SKK has called for all HoDs and officers to immediately report to their respective stations, stating that their presence is “a mandate from the people” and not a matter of choice. The union urged officials to prioritize their duties, maintain regular attendance, and work collectively to address the needs and grievances of the public.

As part of its effort to monitor the situation, the SKK announced that it will undertake regular inspections of government offices. The results of these inspections will be made public and forwarded to the concerned authorities, with a demand for strict measures against those found neglecting their responsibilities, it said.

The union said the move aims to ensure accountability and reinforce dedication among public servants in Zunheboto district.
