The Konyak Union convened an emergency meeting at its office in Mon today, attended by members of the Union Executive Council (UEC), the Advisory Board, and representatives from all Konyak Civil Society Organizations.

The meeting was held in response to the hostage situation involving Konyak Civil Society leaders by the NSCN-K (Yung Aung Group), which the Union described as a “blatant defiance” of its standing resolution.

In a statement issued following the meeting, the Union demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the detained leaders within 24 hours. The statement further warned that failure to comply would compel the Union to take any course of action it deems appropriate and necessary.

The Union also urged all Konyak citizens, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant and be prepared to follow any directives from the Union Office.

Additionally, all thirteen Unit Presidents have been instructed to report to the Konyak Union Office in Mon on October 13 to deliberate on the next steps.
