The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen, IPS, has issued an advisory urging citizens to celebrate the festive season in an eco-friendly and responsible manner, reminding the public of restrictions on bursting firecrackers in the district.

Firecrackers will be allowed only from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Diwali and similar festivals, and from 11:55 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Only Reduced Emission or Green Crackers approved by the Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization (PESO) may be used and sold through licensed traders.

Bursting firecrackers in silence zones—within 100 meters of hospitals, schools, courts, and religious places—is strictly prohibited. Firecrackers exceeding the permissible noise limit will also be banned.

The order stated that violators will face penalties as per the law.
