The Department of Political Science, Dimapur Government College, in collaboration with the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA), conducted a workshop today on the theme ”Media Trials, Due Process of Law, and the Judicial Landscape of Nagaland.”

The resource person, Atoka Achumi, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary of DDLSA, spoke on the role of media and the challenges arising from social media expansion. He said that media trials and uninformed public opinion go against the rule of law.

Achumi stated that expressing opinions on social media alone will not solve the problems in Nagaland and emphasized the need for informed opinion, awareness on privacy, and appropriate legislation.

Legal guidance and advocacy were provided by the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority.
