Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung, in collaboration with Eagle Crest Training Academy and Consultancy (ECTAAC), Dimapur, organized a two-day hospitality workshop from November 11 to 12, 2025, under the theme “United in Purpose, Caring Beyond Duty” at the Multipurpose Hall, IMDH, Mokokchung.

The initiative aimed to enhance and provide the highest standard of patient-centered care while strengthening team unity. It was designed to improve patient care, satisfaction, safety, and compliance, as well as to increase workplace efficiency and reduce patient conflicts and litigation risks by improving communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.

The workshop focused on the core principles of hospitality tailored to a healthcare environment. All hospital staff in direct contact with patients participated, including clinical, administrative, and support teams.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr Ademla Tinu, Medical Superintendent of IMDH, said, “Communication gaps and other communication issues can lead to poor overall healthcare efficiency, patient dissatisfaction, and even patient safety risks.” She further stated that the workshop was not just to polish speaking skills but also to transform how healthcare workers interact at every level, boosting empathy, engagement, mutual respect, and teamwork.

Dr Ademla also mentioned that “our staff is the backbone of the hospital, and investing in their communication and teamwork skills is an investment in patient wellbeing.” She added that the workshop would not only create a more positive work environment but also directly influence patients’ emotional and psychological health, which is crucial for their recovery.

Allin Awomi, Operations Head & HR at ECTAAC, while appreciating the organizing team from IMDH, mentioned that the workshop was the first of its kind in a government healthcare facility in the state.

Resource persons Asheli, Aviation Trainer cum Team Leader (ECTAAC), and Ayani Kikon, Soft Skills Trainer cum Editor-in-Chief, trained participants on patient priority handling, clear communication skills, and teamwork to build strong connections, solve problems faster, and achieve goals together. The workshop was conducted in three batches.

The hospital anticipates that the programme will lead to improved patient satisfaction scores, better outcomes, and a more engaged and unified team. The investment in this workshop is part of IMDH’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest standard of care for its community.
