The Changki Village Council, Mokokchung has extended its gratitude to the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) President, Neibu Sekhose, and his team for their efforts in securing the renaming of the Junior Girls’ National Football Championship to the “Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship.”

The Changki Village Council stated that the recognition brings honour to Nagaland by placing the name of Dr Talimeren Ao, one of the most celebrated figures in Naga sporting history, at the forefront of a national tournament.
The Council said it was particularly proud that the 2025-26 edition of the championship, the first to carry Dr T Ao’s name, was hosted in Nagaland. Calling it a “historic championship,” it described the occasion as a fitting tribute to Dr T Ao’s enduring legacy.
The Changki Village Council also conveyed gratitude to the State Government for its support, especially acknowledging the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio for “championing this cause at the highest level” and for supporting the successful hosting of the national event in the state.
“As this championship draws to a close, we celebrate not only the champions on the field but also the spirit of Dr T Ao that now guides this tournament,” the Council said.
“May football, and the values it teaches, continue to grow from strength to strength in Nagaland and across the nation,” it added.
